Tottenham Football

Brief History

The Tottenham Hotspurs grew organically as a team from a schoolboys' club originating in 1882 to a professional league in 1896. In 1898, they incorporated the Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Company, effectively monetizing the teams games to pay its salaries. In 1985, the team expanded to include a women's team.

Today, they play out a 62,000 seat stadium in North Tottenham. Originally intending to sell they naming rights to the stadium, a sponsor has yet to be found, so the stadium remains the "Tottenham Hotspur Stadium". They have longstanding rivalries with just about all of the other London area football clubs.

In its 139 years, the Club has had almost a dozen managers, 2 official stadiums, 13 kit suppliers and countless glories and humilations. It currently stands solidly in the Premier League, of which it was a founding member.
